Who are some of the cuemakers that do Hoppe cue conversions the best? I'm talking about converting the 2 piece ones with that old leather wrap and oversized handle like a club.
Also how much does it normally run? I've heard someone say slightly under 1k. I thought that was a pretty high number.

I don't do conversions, but I don't think that $1K is unreasonable at all.

Keep in mind that most of the time, it is going to be a lot more work for the cuemaker to convert your cue into something he is going to be proud of, then it would be for him to build a new cue from scratch. Most of the blanks that are used have something wrong with them that is going to take some messing around with to correct.

Many cuemakers will try not to do a conversion since it's usually much harder to convert these cues than to build a new cue.

However, it can cost anywhere between $400 and $1200 depending on who you get to build it. Could be even higher. Depending on what type of conversion, what style, inlays, and other options....that's what would help you figure out who to ask to do the conversion. Shoot me a PM and I can possibly give you a little more information.
