Hey guys!

I work in a bar as a poker dealer and I decided that it could be nice to host weekly friendly 8 ball tournaments. We have a nice bar box and a nice pool of players. I am looking for inputs as to how I should proceed and what the format should be.

I'm thinking that we could attract at least 10 players, and we would have a 3-4 hours time frame.

I was thinking about matching up people at random. So we would have 5 matches to play at first. And then the losers of the first match would go into the ''loser's bracket''. Then I'm not sure if we should make the loser's bracket champion play the winner's bracket champion as a final or do something else. Then probably play a best of 3 for the finals or something like that.

10-15$ each and then 1.25$ per game so basically people would pay 15-20$ for their tournament and the winner would probably get 75% of the money + 25% for the runner up.

It kind of sucks when on 1 table. The winners sit for quite a long time waiting for losers bracket to finish. But we did a "Texas Express" tournament. All fouls are ball in hand, including scratch on break. Open table after break no matter which category of balls were made, 8 ball is neutral till a legal ball after break is made, and loser breaks. Winners bracket...race to 3. Losers bracket race to 2.

This format seemed to keep things moving along pretty good.
