In previous years there was a guy named Housepro Mike who covered some of the matches live. Were has he gone, does anybody know? Isn't there anyone who can take over his job, it was so great to be able to follow the matches rack by rack.

I believe you are talking about Mike Ives that worked for Pool & Billiard Magazine. If this is who you are talking about, I didn't even know he was around at all. When I was younger in the 80's he followed the tour around in one of those Toyota P/U's that had a camper conversion. Nice guy to know in the pool world. I personaly haven't heard anythong of him in years.

I don't know if his name is Mike Ives. I only know tha two years ago this person Housepro Mike covered the matches from the last eight on line. He posted the rack by rack score with short comments. He was so nice to post the scores on the Feijen- Parica match on my request, while he was covering the other, for AZ more important match.
Since he was not here this year I had to wait for the sms from niels to know how his match against Rodney had ended. Again, there was little articles or remarks about this match, since Keith drew all the attention.

Maybe it's just my frustration that my fellow-dutchman Niels gets so little attention. He came in 9th on his debut and has become twice fifth now; it seems to me that the guy deserves to be looked at. He is a winner for the nearby future and he will.
Then he 'll get all the articles and remarks that he deserves.

Ruthless, i saw Mike Ives last year. He came up to north Florida and spent a few days playing in my room. Actually, he sailed up here. He lives in south Florida on a small sailboat.

He hasn't changed much. LOL

Neils is a very respected player, and anyone who came up against him at the Open didn't take it lightly at all. Scott Smith, the tournament barker, announced that Neils is spnosored by the Olympic Committee of his country.

When he won his match one night, he immediately left the tournament venue, probably to get his rest and prepare for the next day. He is very professional, and as we all know, he has an awesome break. I do remember that AzBilliards had a column about him running 15 racks, and I think everybody who was matched up against him was well aware of this fact.

Neils is a very consistent pool player, acquiring good table speed and always getting the right leaves. He is one pool-playing machine.

Neils also macthed up with a fellow pro for a race to 11. Giving up the 7. Sorry, I don't know the name of Neils' opponent.

I saw the first match, Neils won. I left during the second match with Neils down 7-3

I will.

Tommy K. told me on the phone today about the date conflict that has been created by John DiToro and isn't too happy about it. I agree with him that the date should be changed by them and not Starcade which had that scheduled way in advance. I will see John tonight and mention something myself. I know Tommy's sponsor has paid entry for both, but he will attend the one at Starcade. I hope that it gets worked out so that the FL Tour & Starcade both don't lose any players due to this.

Good Luck, :)

I talked to John about it and can see his point also. He had it scheduled for the 15th but it would be at the same time of the Glass City. The FL Tour has a lot of players that attend that event. And as he said it is 450 miles from Tampa & over 600 to Miami. Those players would be very few to go to the panhandle to play. Tonight there were several players from the US Open at Pro Billiards ready for tomorrow. Some players that are here are Corey D., Troy Frank, Rodney M., Charlie W., Mario Cruz, DiToro, D. Grossman, T. Kennedy, and many more. Showing up tomorrow Buddy H., Nick V., Ray M., and who knows who else.

Hope it works out up there :)

Ruthless, thanks for your concern over the date conflict. I really don't think either of us will hurt the other too much. I hope not anyway. But it does get frustrating trying to work around other events, and then have them change dates after all the flyers have been published.

I'm sure both events will go well.
See ya in Oct.
