I do most of my work in a 12' x 16' shop with other elements (wood storage, finished cues, etc) stored in other parts of my basement. In this "shop" I have 2 machine lathes, a wood lathe, a band saw, a dust cleaning system, a jointer, router and storage for my tools and some wood.

in my opinion you need something at least twice as big as I have.

3-storey 1500 sq.ft. and still need more space. Been living a simple life so I've been dumping most of my income on raw materials and machinery. I will be moving to a 7200 sq.ft former cabinet shop, that my father foreclosed on, as demand for my other products have risen.

I agree, shop size, like money, is never quite enough. If you make 200.00 one week you come up about 5.00 short. If you make 2000.00 the next week, you still come up 5.00 short. My shop is 1800 sq.ft. and it's still all cluttered. All flat surfaces are used up. I had one wall with a set-up for taking pictures of cues, with proper lighting but had to move it for a new lathe installation and now can find no wall space to set up another.

One cuemaker, 1/2 of a 2 car garage walled off for humidity control. lathe and cnc are fixed. Dust collector system, band saw, table saw, sander, grinder, tool boxes, along with wood storage are on roll around cabinets. That way I can take them in and out of the shop area as needed. Never enough room.

Do you know Roland Ramos? He is in Hawaii - was going to start building cues about 5 years ago.

Hi Jack,
No, I've not heard of Roland Ramos. Chris Hightower told me of a guy over here that was, or was going to start building cues, but I've not heard of or from him. I also understand there may be another cuemaker on the big island catering to tourists. All hear-say.
