How can you make pockets tighter?

I have an old Gandy Big G. It has Simonis 860 cloth and plays really well. The pockets, however, are buckets and VERY forgiving. I would like to make the pockets smaller. Can this be done with new rails and changing the angle of the pocket cut? I really don't want those spring-loaded shims but I guess I could do that if that is the only way. Also shelves are very shallow. Any way to make them deeper?

first link is correct.....you can go to 1/4" facings of 60 durometer neoprene with no problems ....but if you want to go tighter than another 1/2" then you have to extend the rails and replace the cushions.

edit: not exactly 1/2" it would depend on the current facing thickness...

that second link .....hmmm i don't like that idea. but that's me
