How Did Pot Black Start?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Pot Black was started by Barry Hearn selling the concept to the BBC and using his stable of 8 players, including Steve Davis, as the participants.

But I cant' find anything now. :mad:

All together now, "snooker loopy, nuts are we". Oh, the horror...

No, PB started a long time before Bazza got involved, but I don't know the history. Love the theme tune - chopsticks, I think. Remember watching it on my parents 14" portable B&W tv as a kid - by eck, we was poor back then. Still are, for that matter.

Around 7 minutes he starts talking about 8 players and developing their professional personalities. I had read about this some time in the misty past and assumed that it was driven in part by the marketing for Pot Black. :p
