How do you draw the cue ball?

How much will it cost me to learn how to jump a ball and then draw the cue ball back half a table to make a ball in the corner pocket, one-handed, like George Breedlove?
Good one, Rackin_Zack. I simpathize with Matt still, since this topic comes up over and over again. It all depends on where you're at. ALL OF IT!

simple

just start with the cue about 12 inches away from the object ball. Farther than that and you might not figure it out as fast.

tip position really low

but dont make the common mistake of hitting to hard, this will make you miscue.

use blue master chalk and a good tip.

ask what a good tip looks like if you dont know.

Hope that helps

What others said, start with about one diamond of distance between CB and OB. But, don't set up your shot fully straight in on such short distance because you'll worry that CB might return to your stick (a foul stroke) which will stiffen up your hand and restrict your follow through. Give it a slight angle to the pocket of about 10-15 degrees. That way, the cueball will not only draw, but will also produce swerve motion which will impress girls no doubt...:)
Have fun!

You probably want to ignore the advice about snapping your wrist. People think you can draw the cueball further with a wrist snap, but that is bull. I have watched top players draw the cueball for years looking at their techniques and I have yet to see any top player use a wrist snap when drawing the ball long distance. An extremely loose wrist, which is required so you can snap it, destroys your timing, and without good timing, you won't be able to draw the ball. Keeping your wrist still but NOT TIGHT like you are tensing it, just keep it relaxed but still. Don't let it flop around during your stroke.
