How do you keep a lizard wrap clean?

The pic of the cue is from awhile ago. The wrap is getting a little darker in the middle than before. Is it getting dirty or is it just from normal wear & tear?

The cue is a James White & is my main play cue. I don't have sweaty hands but I haven't done anything other than ocassionally wiping it down with a dry towel or old t-shirt to remove smudges or finger prints.

The darkening usually caused by the oil in you hands and skin getting in to the leather (sweaty palms or not) because the protective and shiny coating that the tannery put on it has disappeared. There is no real way of getting rid of the discoloration totally, but if you thoroughly clean the wrap making sure that it is completely dry, and then "spit shine" the wrap with a neutral shoe polish, it will become shiny again, and the discoloration will become less apparent, although the wrap as a whole will become a little darker due to the fact that now the entire wrap is essentially "oily". If you don't know what "spit shining" is, or how to do it, just find someone that has served in the military, they should be able to help you out
 
I use armor all to reshine. I dont use alot of real lizard anymore bc it breaks down after a year I'd two of play. Brown is tougher to clean up then black.

Hey Dave,
Do you use the regular Armor All like for car dashes? Or another Armor All product?

If you don't use lizard what do you prefer? Lizard embossed leather? If yes does that hold up better?

I know the brown is harder to maintain but black won't look right with cocobolo. Thanks for the info, Cory.
 
yes reg armor all. i wipe it on then let it sit. wipe it off in an hour then the next time you play with it wipe it again. when i show a cue it gives it that new shinny look again

lee from brianna and tiger has embossed lizard i use hold up well. i did a cue for a friend i see all the time. 2+ years old and still looks as new as day 1. for high end things i like real but dont think top notch guys dont use embossed prints for multi thousand dollar cues
