how do you guys practice with this thing? do you shoot actual draw shots with it? or do you just practice hitting the ball straight, striking the cue ball high for follow, low for draw, and slightly below center for a stop shot?

i havent seen the CD/Video that came with it yet, i am taking it to the office tomorrow to see what is on it.

i have a problem when i shoot draw shots, i focus too much on keeping the arms centered, and just seem to miss the shot a mile...............

thanks for any help,
DCP

He doesn't really encourage you to use it for draw shots-Its mostly to train your eye to see true center ball and also to train your stroke to be straight. If you dont have a problem with centerball i dont think it will be much help- If u do, then i feel its a pretty damn good device. I dont know if it is a coincidence but since i started with it, i have been playing better.

Shoot 10 straight in stop shots with it on your cue. Take it off and shoot the same shots, then put it back on, take it back off, keep alternating every 10-15 shots for however long your practice session is. It will get you in stroke. Another great thing about it is that you can visually see if you are twisting your stroke. The arms bob up and down if you have a twist in your stroke.

A DVD came with it, do you have a DVD player?

I agree.. use it like he shows by alternating with the tool, and then with the cue only. But as a little twist, I would throw the balls out there and try to run them with..? Centerball! Much tougher than you think, because the rebound angles are different than what we are used to when using outside english. Since you can't cue the cue ball very well when it's frozen to the rail, you pay extra attention to keep away from freezing up. Using centerball will open your game up a lot.

I use it to shoot this:
START(
%IQ7K4%Pl4X1%WS7L5%Xk4W5%YD9D8%ZP5J8

)END
I put small dots on the table with a sharpie. I shoot it until I make the shot 10 times every few days or so. I try not to over do it. Otherwise, I'll get bored with it and never pick it up again.

I have

a straight stroke device, and its only a quarter.
You put the quarter 2 inches above the elbow
joint of your butt arm when you're down to
shoot. If it falls, you have a bad stroke.
repeat until it doesn't fall off. Then shoot
some balls with it on your arm. When you
get there, you will have a straight smooth
stroke ....
