How does cortland compare to regular irish linen wraps?

I really like the antiqued look of the cortland, especially without rings at C and D (I think that's the top and bottom of the handle). And I'd like to think that it might feel more uniform or softer to the touch, as it appears in all the pics I've seen of it.

Can I get some first hand experiences? please and thank you.
