How Eddie Robin wraps his packages - Learn from this!

I just bought a book from Eddie Robin (Shots, Moves, and Strategies), and I noticed that the package he sent me was wrapped very well! As a matter of fact, this was one of the best wrapped packages I have ever received from anyone.

He took a lot of time to carefully wrap the book in bubble wrap, place that in a box, wrap that in bubble wrap, and place it within another box. There was no way this book was going to be damaged in shipping.

Which gets me to my point.... If he takes so much time and care to wrap a package and obviously has a lot of patience to do this, maybe that is also one of the reasons he is so good at his game. (Having a lot of patience and taking time to do things right.)

So how do you wrap your packages?

My packaging might not be very good since I tend to save my energy for the most important things in life. Then I'll try do to *those* things immaculately. I don't know if that is the best philosophy. Some people say you got to try and do *everything* immaculately.

What I want to know, BillyBob, is how did you get the book directly from Eddie Robin? And how much was it? I imagine it is some kind of secret, or something... But I just couldn't help but to ask. Thanks!

Well I guess it is like a good roll of the balls... Luck I suppose!

I learned the "spot on the wall aiming system" from a video and wanted to learn more about it. Well none of my books on pool had anything about this system!

Hummm... Interesting! Best system I ever learned and not mentioned in ONE of my many books! I'm wondering what *else* is not mentioned in my books??? And this seems to be the trend with me lately. I'm learning that "certain" information is only available in a few videos and books.

So I realized somewhere out there must be a book with more *complete* information about this game and I wanted to find such a book if it existed...

So I'm searching through RSB archives and came across a small blurb about this system and the poster said it was in Eddie Robin's book "Winning One Pocket". Ding! Bingo! So I search through RSB archives about this book and see that everyone and their brother is looking for one. So I search the net and found one. Yeaaa!

Then I read more and learn that there was a companion book called "Shots,
Moves, and Strategies" and everybody and their brother wanted that too. So I search for that and found one for sale on Ebay. It said last one available and author would autograph. So I ordered it and asked for him to sign it. The seller was Eddie Robin! Right place at the right time is all.

I'm embarrased to say what I paid for these two books, but from the prices I've seen elsewhere, I could double my money with a quickness. NOTE: They are *not* for sale at any price, so don't try. I've only received the "Shots, Moves, and Strategies" book so far, but from first glance, it contains a *lot* of stuff my other books are lacking. So well worth the price.

Best of all is the method of teaching. It first gives you a problem situation, then asks you to solve the problem. Then on the next page it gives you the solution. This is the *best* method of learning for myself, so I will do well with this book. The Japanese also use this method. They first ask the students to solve a problem, then give them the solution after they have racked their brains for 15 or 30 minutes. Then the students are very interested in the solution and remember it.

OK, I'm already getting email asking where to get these books...

FYI - There was a copy of "Winning One Pocket" at abe books for $600.00 (link below), but it is long gone. Someone posted on RSB a while back that he had them for sale. I don't know if he has any more, but the message is the first link below.

What I did to search for these books was to first try the two rare book seller links below, then do a general search on google.com for the book titles in quotes. "Shots, Moves, and Strategies" was nowhere to be found. I did find a couple of "Winning One Pocket" books though. Now those are both gone.

So search google.com for...
"Shots, Moves, and Strategies"
-or-
"Winning One Pocket"

Eddie Robin has been selling Shots, Moves and Strategies on E-Bay for quite some time. I bought one from him myself. Winning One Pocket is another story, good luck finding a copy.

Winning One-Pocket & Shot, Moves, Strategies books

Your statement: "It said last one available and author would autograph."

Thanks for appreciating my work, and that of my many co-authors of course, and, especially for telling others about it. The books seem to have helped bring the one-pocket game back to where it should be.

I was told about this AzBilliard Forum a few days ago. A friend emailed me re your complimentary message, and, upon reading it, I wanted to straighten out one point in case of any misunderstanding. I believe my statement had to do with auctioning off my last title or book; not my last COPY of that title or book; I've got some more hardcover copies of SMSs! (The book was never published in soft covers.)

No more than one to each person because there's not enough to go around and I do want more people to read my books. Some have hoarded them for resale a few years from now. Rather than hoarding them with thoughts they will continue to increasing in value.... I can't see the W1P getting anymore valuable than it already is--$225 is plenty already. People paying $400, 500, or even $600 are paying way too much for a 340-page book published in 1997.

By the way, for those so desparately searching for a Winning One-Pocket book, Deno Andrews (denoandrews@sbcglobal.net) is unloading his very hard-to-find W1Ps, at least most of them, from his large collection of various billiard books. I've no idea as to how to get Position Play in 3-Cushion books (P3Cs); I've happily recently obtained a total of five. Deno is all out of his Position Play books also; he's now sending me his very last one, except for his personal copy of course.

remaining mint-condition Shots, Moves, & Strategies in One-Pocket books currently being unloaded by Eddie Robin, the author (er89121@aol.com) cost $103 + $9 S&H, and not yet even opened Winning One-Pocket books from the Deno Andrews’ collection (denoandrews@sbcglobal.net) are going for $225 + $10 S&H.)

Welcome to the forum Eddie!

And thank you for such wonderful books!

I just received my Winning One-Pocket book today, and boy does it have some great stuff, especially in the "Systems and Methods" area. I imagine these things will take me years to learn, so I will have plenty to work on for a long long time.
