I will chime in on this thread, it sounds like you are the dad who is trying to force it upon them. If they show any interest just let them develop as a player. If you have a table someone will come around and if they don't they must not want to play pool. I don't know if you are forcing them to take it competitivley(sp?) or just for fun. I started playing pool while eating breakfest at the local bar/grill. They had a bar table, and i would shot some balls. My dad started taking me out to the pool hall. That christmas i got a cue. I played in some junior events. Got whooped practiced over the summer. Bought a better cue. I showed the interest my dad didn't force it upon me. Just a perspective from a 16 year old kid.

Oh I never really "force" them to play pool - that would be no fun at all. I'm a very "light hearted" Dad and try to make things fun. Love to hang out with my kids (wife thinks I'm younger than they are ).
I let them win all the time - doing various "dumps" ect. But they always suspect me of intentionally letting them win! Even when its NOT! - LOL
I love it when I miss and everyone says I did it intentionally - LOL ...doesn't matter what I say.
Now - my daughter does like to play with me when we play - Movie Trivia pool: An invention we came up with. She really loves comedy movies (I trained her well

) - The rule is simple: Before you shoot your turn you have to give a 'difficult' movie quote and other person has to say what the name of the movie is:
"..Ah - Now you remember" - Dracula Dead and Loving it
"No noose is good noose" - Blazing Saddles
"We're all counting on you" - Airport
"..and this ash tray" - The Jerk
etc. - LOL
That seems to work - but we're running out of movies!
Oh - I like to play sudden death rules with them always -
when I miss they get ball-in-hand reguardless. Or sometimes we play 9 ball and I get only 1 pocket, they get all 6...
