Kind of like that league thread ya know. But i know it won't catch on cause let face.

So any way, how are you hitting them lately? Cause let me tell you when you have been hitting them bad for a while and things suddenly start to go good men it feels like you just went up a ball, and thats how I feel or at least i'll be up a ball above where i was if this keeps up.

But my joy is bitter sweet cause instead of just once a week for about 3 hrs playing 14.1 in an in-house league now i'm getting to either play or practice about 20 hrs a week, but that's due to the lack of work at this time. So i'm hitting them like a BOSS and feeling like one too, and as much as I want this to never end I know it will, work is going to go back into full swing and before you know it i'll be back to once a week for a few hours with bangers. But until then

Everyone that comments get's the 7 ball, no but really i'm hitting them good and it's making me feel good and where the work thing is not even bothering me as much. How bout you?

This is a nice thread for a beginning player like myself, yet to play in serious competition

I was hitting them pretty well untill a few days ago. Finally got my PSR working without thinking of it and played my best pool ever. Actually I even felt confident on most simple shots, knew exatcly where to hit and how in order to pocket and get to the next ball. I was really happy, as this made me a worthy opponent for my regular playing buddies. I have been playing for a few months now pretty seriously, and that confidence in my own abilities is a great big deal for me. Biggest issue left in becoming better for me is obviously the mental side of the game.
I always play well the beginning of games, and as I get to the 8-ball left on the table, I quite often fail to pocket it. Even on situations that I know I can play well, and pocket the ball in training with 95+% chance  But well, that's something that has always been an issue for me, and is luckily slowly fading away as I'm learning to think every ball the same way, pocket, and get the right position for the next one on table.

Then it all came down crashing.
I was at work on monday, as always, turning and welding. The last job for the day was to weld a few really simple bushings to some levers. Welded them, and started to grind away the spatters left behind in a bit of hurry, of course... My glove got stuck in the anglegrinders cutting disc, and pulled my index finger in between the disc and the cover. Made a real mess of my glove, and my finger  Lost most of my fingernail, a lot of blood and had to call an ambulance, because the wound was so deep it bled surprisingly badly.
At the hospital I had to wait for an hour to get someone to clean the wound and figure out what to do with it, it felt like a looooooong time as they didn't even give me any painkillers  Well, atleast I had the time to watch the 224 run by Mika Immonen.
Wound was cleaned, the surgeon told me that as everything has been ground away, there isn't anything she could do, except to cover it and send me home after the tetanus vaccination. Ibuprofein was given to ease pain... It's propably great for someone who hasnt been eating it like cereal for backpain for a few years
Now I'm home on sick leave for atleast 3 weeks, unable to play pool, or do much of anything :boring2: Really annoying for a person who can't not do something for more that 10minutes at a time, hopefully this will heal quickly and I can get to work and playing pool :) Maybe I'll even get a new fingernail, in a year or two :lmao:

Well Kimmo glad you like it, I thought I would be a good idea but hey it's a tough crowd, lol.
Really sorry to hear about you accident but really glad to know you didn't lose it and will be back in it, in due time. It sucks to finally start hitting them good only to have something come up that knocks you out of stride.

Couple of tips if i may for you (not knowing you current speed or how often you get to play etc, etc) what worked for me in the past when I was where you are on the game ball was to alway use it as the last ball during any drill, mostly on position/speed control drill I would set it up "key it to make a very easy shot to avoid emotional disappointment" and pocket it, eventually moving the ball further from the pocket or to a location "say the spot" and play position to pocket it from there.
What really helped me to advance in skill level was playing these common shots to a point where even during a match the shot felt familiar and mentally I told myself "oh i know this shot, it's just like practice", the downside was not playing often enough (mostly one a week) to stay consistent so my game fluctuates a lot.

Now that you are down I would use the time as wisely as possible i.e. jutting down on paper drills that "you" personally would like to work on when you come back and also working on stroke and fundaments, yup. Use the old tried and tested stroking into an empty glass bottle (beer bottle), pendulum of the arm, and the real winner stroking with your other arm (depending on the hand that's damaged of course). Don't let this time go to waste especially if you really want to improve not to mention come back and not of lost too much.

best of luck, keep us posted "or me posted, cause it looks like it's just going to be us"
