Hey Everyone,

Legend's Billiards and Grill in Brenham, Texas has a WI FI connection! So, I can give updates now from the tournament, instead of tomorrow night or Monday from home.

We have an amazing 66 women in our first event of the year!

Only about 32 players left in the tournament as of now.... Anna Kostanian from ABQ is about to play Susan Petty, Amanda Lampert is about to play Cynthia Woodcock, Leslie Anne Rogers is about to play Ricki Lee Casper, Lisa Brannen (Marr) from Arkansas is about to play Belinda Lee on the one loss side, Orietta Strickland is about to play Helen Hayes, Tara McCracken is about to play Terry Petrosino on the one-loss side and Xiaoting Pan (from China) is about to play Amber Stone.

Have anyone you want me to look up? Let me know. I'll give another update when the winner's side matches for tomorrow are set.

Another update

Winner's side for Sunday matches:

Helen Hayes versus Amanda Lampert
Anna Kostanian versus Xiaoting Pan
Shayla Neris versus Monica Anderson
Leslie Anne Rogers versus Jennifer Kraber

One Loss side includes Orietta Strickland and Lisa Marr Brannen. Most matches still going on, though, so final matches on the one lose side are not yet determined...

Sunday early afternoon updates

Okay, Sunday early afternoon and many matches complete. Starting with the winner's side matches:

Xiaoting Pan (from China) defeated Anna Kostanian (from ABQ) hill-hill. It was a great match - both playing well. Both got to the table at 6-6, and some safes back and forth and then X. Pan pocketed a missed 9-ball by Anna.
Anna then lost to Lisa Marr Brannen 7-4 on the one-loss side.

Amanda Lampert lost to Helen Hayes 7-2, then lost hill-hill to Lisa Marr Brannen. Helen was defeated by X. Pan 7-2. A big crowd follows X. Pan and everyone wants to watch her play.

Jennifer Kraber lost hill-hill against Leslie Anne Rogers after a brutal 8-ball long rail kick was missed. Jennifer then lost another hill-hill match against Orietta Strickland who broke and ran the last rack. Orietta then defeated Amber Stone 7-2.

Orietta and Helen are now playing and it's also Lisa versus Shayla. On the winner's side, only X. Pan and Leslie Anne are left.

Sunday evening update

Lisa Marr lost to Orietta Strickland 7-6 and placed 4th. Leslie Anne Rogers defeated Xiaoting Pan 7-6 for the hotseat. Leslie was on the 7-ball hill-hill with the 8 already pocketed. She missed the 7, but hooked X. Pan. X. Pan jumped the 9-ball cleanly and hit the 7-ball, but did not pocket it. Leslie made the 7 and 9 for the win.

X.Pan defeated Orietta Strickland 7-5 and has already won the first set against Leslie Anne. X. Pan is up 3-0 against Leslie in the second set of this true double elimination tournament.

Both paid the extra $20 for the WPBA Qualifier - for the March WPBA event in Michigan.

Orietta was on the one-loss side, so her loss to X. Pan put her in 3rd place.

The finals are now finished! X. Pan defeated Leslie Anne Rogers both sets to win the tournament and the WPBA Qualifier. 7-4 and 7-3.

Xiaoting Pan plays extremely well - mean safes, a hard break for such a little lady, along with jumping balls well, and of course her shot selection and pocketing of balls was impressive. Like I mentioned before, she had crowds watching all her matches all weekend long. She'll be at the Ladies Spirt Tour stop next weekend and she may come to our tournament in March at Magoos in Tulsa, OK where the qualifier will be for the 9-Ball Championships in Vegas in May!
