I get it... Tip leather hardness is related to animal weight!

OK I figured out this "cattle leather", "pig skin", "water buffalo" thing and tips made from their leather.

The larger and heavier animals are "pre-compressing" the leather!

You have an animal, which weighs several tons, then the animal lays on its side just once... and presto! You have "pre-compressed" tip leather.

The Blue Whale is the largest mammal weighing over 190 tons... So it would be highly desirable to find a beached whale of this type lying on its side. Should make an excellent breaking tip! I don't know if the skin would be better before or after the whale was "blown up" with explosives (See Exploding Whale link below).

A Rhinoceros has the thickest skin, 1 inch thick that is. So tips made from this skin should last for a long time.

Your correct - The Rhino has very thick skin, BUT the foreskin used on my Rhino-Tips is USUALLY very soft.
If a hard one is ever harvested, the native almost never lives and therefore the price (one of his wife’s) charges - GOES WAY UP!
I have averaged out the cost to all so they cost just $2,600 apiece.

Most tip manufactures offer Hard, Med & Soft tips. I suspect they treat these tips differently to achieve the desired density.
HOWEVER -
The Rhino Foreskin Tips have no artificial hardening agents added. They are delivered to your door in the condition they were in at the time of the harvest.
Some are VERY Hard, Some are Semi-Hard & Some are very Soft.
We have found that the age of the Rhino has a lot of effect on the hardness of the tips. The older the Rhino, The Softer the Tip - BUT - The Harvester has more trouble getting the older Rhino's to Go For The Old Female Rhino Line about - "Oh, I've had soooooo much to drink tonight that I may let you have your way with me".
Bottom Line - EVEN THE HARVESTER, HAS TO BE A HELL OF A HUSTLER!
