hi there, i've been browsing this forum for a while, but never posted till now.
let me start by saying, I AM NOT A CUEMAKER, but i have started to do repairs, and modifying cues.
here's my dilema:
i have a cue that i want to turn into my break cue, put a uni-loc pin in, and throw a new shaft on. the cue has an irish linnen wrap, but i don't like a wrap on my break cue. i thought about clearing over it like meucci does, but after holding a mooch, i don't like the fact that you can still feel that the wrap is there, i have a suspicion that no matter how many coats of clear goes on, it will always be that way. i also thought about cutting out some maple veneer, and putting it in place of the wrap, but i'm not sure that would work out either.
is there any product that would build up thick enough to make the handle, and rest of the cue level, that would be o.k. to cover with auto clear?
if anyone has an idea, it would be appreciated.
