I need opinions....

Over the past few months 9 ball has become the game of choice with 1 pocket right behind it even though I am not that great at one pocket. Anyways...I have a Jerico Thumper(Sneaky Pete version of Stinger) and I really like the way it breaks for 8 ball. For 9 ball I like a more controlled break and I cant seem to achieve what I want from the phenolic tip. I watched Tommy Kennedy break a few racks at one of his events this weekend...wow is all I can say. Not a big semi truck smashing through a brick wall break but hit reasonably hard, balls pocketed and the cue ball stopped dead center table. I looked at his break cue and noticed it was a leather tip. So Im looking for opinions on what I should do. I will keep the jerico in my bag for playing 8 ball but Im wondering if another break cue with a leather tip is in order. Also do you guys prefer j/b cue or a break cue and a jump cue seperately. I know the Jacoby jumper is a mean one as well as the Lucasi. Appreciate all the help in advance.

My Opinion ...

I usually research whatever I buy in Pool quite a bit,
partly for bang for the buck, but also to get something
I will be happy with in quality and looks.

I have always preferred a separate Break stick and Jump stick.
(Use custom Sneaky Pete with SS joint and hard leather tip
for breaking and a Scorpion Jumper currently).

But after quite a bit of research, discussion, etc., I have decided
to get an Xbreaker Break/Jump cue. I have not seen one in person,
and I usually don't buy a cue without seeing in person, but I am
going to take a chance on this. Harder tip than phenolic, but chalks
and controls like leather, plus I want to be able to Jump closer balls.

Down in your equipment line: I just bought an Action Elite Eln35 3 x 5
from www.Pooldawg.com for 79.20 with free shipping. Big bang for the buck.Pooldawg

Thanks Scott. I have read a lot of your posts and are always helpful no matter the subject. The jerico does jump well and Im happy with it full cue and breaking it down. Its just missing something. Thanks again. I appreciate the case recommendation, I bought a 3 x 6 a few weeks back from an employee of the local and not so great pool supply shop. Its an Instroke look like $80 used...normally like $200+. Big Bang there.
