I stopped by Shon Harding's house (Spanky's Custom Cues) to get a wrap put on and I bought a cue while there...just not one of his.

While he was putting a wrap on my Sawdust cue, he let me hit some balls on his table with some cues on the wall rack. These included a Jim Pierce cue & one from Cody Cash of PK Custom Cues (both so freaking good!), as well as a couple made by Shon himself and this cue, made by his son.

Something about this cue drew my eye and when I picked it up I could tell it was going to be a good hitter. It was! I asked about it, found out it was for sale (only $350) and bought it.

It may be a practice cue for a novice cuemaker and it's not perfect, but it is a one-off and hits beautifully. I couldn't resist.

Considering that he learned what he knows from Shon, I can only imagine that Shon's cues are fantastic players. I hope to have one some day. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying what his son, Easton Modlin, has made.

Ps - it came with a maple shaft with a LePro tip. I'm using a Raven CF shaft here, which plays well, but I honestly prefer the stock shaft on this one.
