I wonder if Schon will continue using Ivory in their cues.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Schon has always used real Ivory in their cues, right?

I am wondering if they will have to (or decide to) start using imitation Ivory in their cues in the near future, now that the Ivory is becoming illegal in certain states.

Schon has been mass producing cues for over 30 years(?) that contain Ivory inlays in them, so I also wonder how they were able to obtain all of the Ivory for those cues.

I do not know, but I imagine that there would only be a limited quantity of pre ban Ivory that is out there (in the States, and can't legally be imported in from outside of the US I imagine), so how has Schon and all of these other cue makers been able to legally obtain the Ivory for their cues?

I do not know, maybe the Ivory inlays in cues are not that deep, so maybe a 100 or more cues can be made (that are filled with tons of Ivory inlays) using just 1 single elephant tusk, and who knows how many pre ban Ivory Elephant tusks are available for legal purchase in the US.

Sorry if this has already been talked about on here in the past.

Was just curious about the Ivory that is in Schon cues, if it is real Ivory, and if you think that Schon (and other custom and production cue makers) may not be able to use real Ivory in their cues for much longer?

Thanks for any thoughts about this.

I was told they already stopped. Their descriptions no longer state Ivory is a used material

Okay, I see that they are now using Micarta (as a replacement for the Ivory inlays) in their cues. The STL8 is a model that I really love the looks of (because of the sharp inlays, that are not rounded off), and you are right, they make no mention of Ivory in the cue (only Birdseye Maple, Ebony, and Micarta).

I wonder if any production cue makers are still advertising real Elephant Ivory in their cues. I assume not, because Schon is (arguably) the highest end production cue maker in the US, and it looks like they are not even using Ivory in their cues anymore.

The quantity of ivory already here in the USA is so great that cue-makers could keep making cues
for the rest of their cue-making lives and never make any substantial reduction in the amount here.

That is interesting. If the Ivory came from Elephants that died from natural causes (like old age for example), then I do not see what the big deal is. I guess that it is impossible to know where the Ivory came from though, and that is probably why it is becoming illegal. Thanks for your reply.
