Hello all.

I have a GC-III I’d like to refinish for home use. It’s a carom table but this post is about color/stain idea brainstorm so that’s doesn’t matter as much.

Right now everything except the rail tops are natural mahogany/rose wood stain (not sure exactly - that’s just my guess). Rail tops are darker brownish veneer - still in super good shape (I don’t think there’s any scratches- just dirty and greasy for all these years of staying in a pool hall).

Options as of right now:

1) keep same as original original: sand and reapply natural stains on wood surfaces; degrease rail tops; polish metal corners and leg levelers.
2) as option 1 except change the veneer to be either golden oak or black or some modern/fresh looking colors: ==> please post photos for inspirations/copy-cat
3) stain legs & apron in a dual color (maybe contrast) color theme ==> also, pls post photos. Change color of the rail tops.
4) any other ideas?

Notes:
In my attached photos: 1st is the apron & legs; 2nd is rail top; 3rd is my Olhausen refinished rail with black side and golden oak top

Thanks

The GC VI color schemes are really nice.

I’m thinking about aiming toward one of these two.

Not sure what I should do with the rail top though: prime and paint a glossy black or dark gray; leave it; or replace with new formica.

Thanks Trent. I definitely will give it a try.

What about the rail top? What you usually do? Mine still in perfect shape. Just the color is old style and doesn’t pop :)

you can polish it with a buffer, be careful though. It is formica and you could buff the finiish off.
