If misses were pennies...

Man would I be rich tonight!!! I can't go to sleep because the shots that I missed in league keep going over and over in my head! Shots that I set up on the table and shoot over and over and bang in the hole they go. I couldn't get in stroke to save my life. Looks like I am going to be drilling my a$$ off all week to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The scary thing is I cannot put my finger on what was wrong other than a lack of confidence and inconsistancy. Mind you I was making shots but then I get down on another shot and miss it by 2 inches.

I checked my stroke and my aim and everything seemed right. But I would miss the shot.

Anybody got any drills that would get me back to winning ways? I cannot afford to be out of stroke!

Thanks in advance,

In The Zone

This happens to me as well! I am either in "The Zone" or not. I have seen this happen to the Pro,s as well and cannot explain it. Somthing clicks to put you in "The Zone" or on the fringe of it for Pro,s. I think 99 essential shots or other type of book will help you get back to the Zone or close to it. Good Luck!

Tom "Dr Cue" Rossman told me this the first lesson he gave me back on December 26, 1998.

if you are struggling in these types of situations, it is probably your stroke that is off just a hair. practice this shot. put an object ball about 6 inches in front of a side pocket. put the cue ball about 12-15 inches from the object ball, straight in. now practice the 3 basic shots in pool - follow, stun, draw. see if you can follow the cue ball back into the MIDDLE of the side pocket, not to either side. see if you can stun the cue ball right in its tracks. and see if you can draw the cue ball back into the opposite side pocket, near the middle.

this should get some confidence back in your stroke. pool is all about the pure, straight stroke. once it flows, confidence follows.

hope this helps.
if it isnt worthwhile, consider the source, that being Mr. Rossman. Bob Byrne told me in Peoria to treat every word out of Tom Rossman's mouth as "Gospel" so that should tell you something.

DCP

p.s. Rossman told me to treat every word out of Byrne's mouth as gospel as well.

At these times, I want to attach a "turnbuckle" to my arm to adjust slightly this way or that since I will be consistantly so much off on each shot.

Anyway think positive. These things go in cycles. When you are down, there is nowhere to go but up! You will do much better in a few days....
