In house league format?

I was thinking about starting an in house 8 ball league and would like some feedback from other room owners.
In your option what is the best format?
How many games? Singles, doubles or both?
Points and scoring system?
Fees for team sign ups? Fees for player/per week?
(no fee if team has a bye?)
And how long of a season?

We're a new poolhall that just opened up 2 months ago and so far we are hosting APA matches. We are looking into introducing in-house tourneys as well but we're thinking of following APA format/endorsement for now. We may be part of another league's format too for a different night of the week. Following a well known league format is probably the way to go IMO, especially introducing something for the first time.
