Info needed on Brunswick cue

Can someone give me info on this Brunswick Cue? I have not been able to find anyone (or any sites) that can tell me about this cue. Year? Model? Value? It was my grandfather's so I have no interest in selling. The handle seems to have quite a few wood inlays.

Brunswick Chevron Cue

jmm232:

Your cue is from the mid-70's to early-80's. It is a Taiwanese import made by one of a variety of manufacturers that B'wick used at this time. The Taiwanese cues (distinguishable by the integrally-piloted, pin-in-shaft joint) were the last before Brunswick stopped making cues altogether - until their reintroduction in the early 90's. The chevron inlays are pre-fabbed and appear in a number of import cues. Brunswick used several slightly different designs (probably different manufacturers) of this cue. Some had the ring-type weights with a screw-off butt sleeve and others had slightly different inlays or inlay placement. I have one B'wick and several unmarked cues in this pattern, and have sold a couple of B'wicks. I got in the low $100 range, which for a Taiwanese cue ain't bad. Yours, of course, has sentimental value far beyond its monetary one.

Adios,

That cue looks a lot like the one that was on eBay a short while ago. The buyer paid WAY TOO MUCH for it btw.

Bob, I bought a Titlist off ebay a short while back. They buyer also had another Brunswick that he (at that time) was not interested in selling. I thought it pretty interesting, in that it was an EIGHT point from around the same era as the one I bought. The cue was all original, with the original leather wrap and the name Brunswick. It definitely was not a counterfeit. The aged brass joint collar, the patina, the leather, everything was correct. I am only assuming but it appeared to be fully spliced. Obviously the first four points had to be "V" grooved, then the last four full spliced. I had never seen one. Have you?

Brunswick 8-Point

Yes I have seen the 8-point cue to which you refer. There was aslo an 8-point with 4 up (from the grip) and 4 down (from the joint collar). Both these cues were originally made for B'wick by Adam. If the pin was in the butt and "pointy", chances are good that it was an Adam/Brunswick. What complicates matters, though, is that when B'wick left Adam and started with the Taiwanese imports (usually characterized by the type of joint shown on the original cue in this thread), they also knocked-off some of the designs - with maybe some slight changes. So both of the 8-points described above are around in both (or several) iterations. The desirable ones, in my opinion, are the Adam manufactured ones. The Taiwanese are generally poorly made and only of interest to illustrate how low B'wick cue production went before it ceased. And, yes, lots of people pay waaaaay too much for the Taiwanese cues on Ebay because they have the Brunswick name attached aned/or they don't know any better. Again, JMHO.

Adios,

that's funny

How ironic. I have the same exact cue...lol It was my first ever stick when I was a youngster. It' s too bad it's just a cheap cue cause it has a very cool inlay pattern. I have always thought about putting a pin into the joint and sealing the collar so I could screw a good shaft on it. Just somethin to fart around with.
