Inner Game of Tennis vs. Inner Game of Golf

Hi everyone,

I've been hearing a lot about "The Inner Game of Tennis" and how it can help improve your mental game. However, I checked on Amazon.com and saw that the author also wrote a book called "The Inner Game of Golf" and I was wondering how the two books compared. I have the opinion that golf shares a few more things in common with pool than tennis does and was wondering which book most fully applied to pool. Are the principles in the "Tennis" book pretty much reiterated in the "Golf" book, or do the books share some differences on how to approach the mental side of their respective sports? Any and all opinions are much appreciated.

Zen Golf is another good one to read. The Inner Game of Tennis is pretty good but is more directed at the physical aspect of Tennis, to me the Golf books are more in line with Pool overall. The reason being is that Golf is a one player sport, just like Pool, Tennis is more interactive with two players therefore the dynamics are different.

I haven't read any books on Golf but I have read The Inner Game of Tennis and I gotta say, it can easily be applied to pool. The attention to the physical aspects of Tennis is incredibly minimal and is used merely by the author to make a point. He's not talking about what you need to do to improve your backhand. He's talking about teaching yourself to improve anything in your game and refers to improving your backhand as a case-in-point.

It's a short read. You really shouldn't have to devote more than an afternoon to read it cover to cover and it can't be more than $12. Just get it. It's well worth the investment. For me, that book was a religious experience. It completely changed my approach to pool.

I have read the "Inner Game of Golf" and not "THe Inner game of tennis". "GOlf is definately worth a read. I would also recommend "Point The Way" and "I came to win" by the Monk.
