Insurance, Liability and Honesty....

1st: How many of you carry your own Liability Insurance for your company?

2nd: Have you ever had another company to ask you to LIE and say you work for them??

I carry a million dollar liability policy to protect my clients and my business.

I was on another companies job the other day and the owner of that company said to me " if anyone asks you, will you say that you work for our company? We have a contract that states that everyone onsite has to be insured under my policy."

Dealing with big Corporations is delicate work, but I understand contract work and value these types of clients.

Long story short, when stuff went wrong> I was honest and that person likely lost more work. I did the right thing.

ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT OR SIMILAR SITUATIONS?? How did you handle it??

Well if you operate a business with out insurance you are playing a dangerous game.

One goof could be a life of misery without proper insurance.

If you work in commercial businesses like Pool Room, Bar, Sports Bar many potential clients may ask for proof of liability insurance, to protect them.

This is not really input. Thanks for your interest, but I thing this is very, very common knowledge.

I also carry $1M General Liability.
I have never had anyone ask me to lie about working for them. Though, I am sometimes required to submit my insurance policy information.

Never worth the risk of lying. In your situation, I would think that there may have been a bit of misinterpretation of the contract... More likely, it was important that everyone on the site be covered under a policy. Naturally, it's easiest if everyone is under one singular policy, though I would have to believe that exceptions could be made. Just more paperwork for someone.

No, he literally said to me, everyone needs to be an employee of mine and covered under my policy. It was removing pool tables. He basically was contracted to remove them and then do what ever with them OFF SITE. I understand this, it can get dicey for the contracting company if something happens and someone's insurance is lacking coverage. I think you might know who it is, he screwed us over really bad. I aint airing it out on here though. I will just say this: We have this thing called AWESOME and he didn't. We got it done and that is that! :)

Have him call his insurance company and put you on the policy right there before doing that.

Job is already done. I was not worried: I have my own policy if something happens. I did not lie for him.
I know what to do, he clearly did not. "Easy money" is what he was all about: also guilty of not doing his job and broke 2 contracts, one with me and the venue. The issue is he made a deal and broke the contract with the company that had the tables.
Was a funky situation. We handled it.
