Don't Give Up So Easily
You own a handsome Zinzola.........the only knock someone could point out was that one of the shafts wasn't 100% straight as I recall from your description. The one that sold on e-Bay 6-7 weeks ago was a sleeper and Tony sold it direct for just under $1200. It was a steal and the auction was a short one too.
Just because someone expresses the opinion that your cue was only worth $800 to him doesn't mean his assessment is accurate. Brand new that cue cost a lot more and as recall from the website, your cue also had an ivory joint. Your cue is worth more than $800 and exactly how much I can't say for sure. Relist your cue and do a better job on the description. Don't tell an interested Azer to go check out Tony's website to find out about a cue you own and want to sell. Just make it easy for them and better describe your cue....cut and paste from the Zinzola website....how much did your cue weigh? Heck, if it was the right weight, I might have bought it.
My point is promote your cue....express pride of ownership.....what condition is it in.......tell us....how's it play......give your thread some lift and express a realistic price range....don't let someone else tell you how much your cue is worth.....find out for yourself.....compare prices of past sales & dealer websites......if you're motivated to sell quickly, price it accordingly (80-85% of what your want) and if you're prepared to wait a little longer, then go 95-100% of your desired price......but don't let another forum member's post deter or dissuade you from sticking to your guns. When your cue hasn't sold in 5-6 weeks, then start asking yourself if you've priced it right. The market's feedback will tell you what the cue is worth.
That AZer who said he'd go $800, so what...who cares....you're not going to sell it for that......you showed great restraint and were gracious not to tell that guy where to stick it. He should have sent you a PM instead of posting that message......he doesn't determine the height of the bar....you do. If I weren't trying to buy another high end cue right now, and your cue was under 19 ozs. I'd negotiate with you right now and the starting price discussion would have been over a grand.
I won't tell you what your cue is worth because the only thing any buyer can do.....really the only thing a buyer can do that matters to any and every cue seller out there......is tell you the highest amount they're willing, prepared or able to pay...........that's it..........and if not it's enough, so be it and everyone goes on their merry ways. Relist your cue and do a better job describing it.....add some actual photos........come up with a price or at least have some best offer amount in mind.....bump your thread every 48-72 hrs......give it a decent run on Broadway before you decide to close the doors permanently. Heck, you yanked it within 72 hrs.....your sales thread never had much of a chance.
Cue #89 on the website looked great and so did cue #87.......I'm not fan of Tony's cue-making......really don't know much about him........so I'm more of just a neutrally minded cue aficionado......but it sure looks his workmanship is on a par with his cue-making peers. Bring that cue back and give it a chance....and remember that there are bound to be posts that are questionable but just handle the situation as your did earlier........stick to your guns.
