i have recently seen a lot of players playing while listening to to ipods or some other mp3 players with earphones........has anyone tried that and if so what was your experience with it.......so far i have tried it and it seems to help in some situations and not make a difference in others. and if you think it helps why do you think it helps ............... i asked several of the players and got one of three responces each time......
1. it drowns out distractions that can happen in the background
2. they arent talking to anyone or listening to anyone so it increases focus
3. they listen to music that gets them pumped up

i only do it when im practicing alone, if someone wants to play me i take off the headphones. to tell you the truth, when i first start i listen to the music, but once i get into a rythm i dont even really hear the music, like the beats are still there but im not payin enough attention the music to actually listen to the details. it doesnt get me pumped but i find it does help me a bit in tryin to ignore the things around me that i dont want to hear.

If the person I'm playing at the time is annoying or won't shut up, I'll Put on the iPod. Most of the time it kind of gets in the way because of the headphone cords and it's a bit awkward to have on.

I'd agree that the headphone cords (even run inside your shirt) can really be very present mentally and affect all aspects of my stance in a negative fashion. I also consider it a bit rude to the other player(which is obviously thrown out the window in the case that they are a complete jackass)

my mp3 player has a belt clip on it so i just clip it on to my back pocket and run the wire down my back, it doesnt bother me one bit.

Mine has a belt clip but I never thought to run it down the *back*. Always had it inside the shirt in front...I'll have to try this some time and see if it's less noticeable while shooting. Thanks!

I will throw one on when shooting by myself or for fun with someone at a poolhall. I would wear one during league but it's not allowed in APA rules, anyone know about BCA rules?

Along the lines of the wires, if you put the ipod in your front pocket and run the cable under your shirt, they will never get in your way.
