I forgot where i read but I heard that putting a lil bit of alcohol on a rag and wiping the shaft and buffing it removes the dirtiness of the shaft and whatnot. I have done it like 4-5 times already and it seems to clean the shaft quite a bit, removes the smoke smell, and smoothes it like a babies fresh smoothe ass.

But can the alcohol do any hard to the shaft?!?!

Denatured is best, because it doesn't contain water. It is fairly toxic though, so don't get it all over yourself.

As far as I am aware of It should'nt warp the shaft or anything, alot of products are alcohol based. It evaperates quickly, so actually should be better then introducing water to a shaft. You might want to pick up a can of denatured and try that if your just using rubbing alcohol now. It's alittle stronger though, and I'd keep it away from the plastics, or gluing surfaces just to be safe, and preferably seal the shaft to prevent future dirt and chalk from getting in. I use It, but not generally for cleaning shafts up, I have other methods for that.

Thanks for the replies. I like the way the Alcohol reacts. It does clean the shaft so it doesnt have the nasty dirty green tint to the shaft, evaporates very quickly as said, I imagine it doesnt harm the finish on the butt but I lighty and I might lighty buffed the butt except the wrap and got rid of the smoke smell......damn bars, and plus Im amazed on how smoothe the shaft comes out :)

i heard long ago that alcohol's drying properties draws too much moisture from the wood, and that's not good.

don't know it for fact. alcohol just sounds like a very odd thing to rub into shaftwood
