Is My Table Off Square?

I have a GC IV that we've been using for casual 8ball & 9ball games.

Recently became a bit more serious about my game and started doing the classic stroke drill. Hitting the cue ball from the head spot to the foot spot at lag speed to have the ball come back and hit the cue tip squarely. The drill works fine from the head spot, hitting the cue tip very consistently.

BUT, from the foot spot, the ball comes back about 1/2 inch to the right of the spot & curving to finish to the left of the center diamond on the foot rail.

I used a T-square and ruler to check that both spots are centered between the long rails.

I'm thinking maybe the head rail isn't exactly square, or maybe there's some issue with that cushion.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Harry

Level

Do you have a level? Sounds like the foot end of the table isn't leveled.

A couple ways to check if the table is level or not is to set two ball along the rail then roll the cue ball into them and see the lead ball comes off the rail or dies because it is being force into it. Pocket speed is the key. A other is to take a ball and drop it on to the nose of the cusion and let it roll down table. Should roll straight if the table is level.

Table

In time I've learned and have been informed that the ends of the GC frame....no matter the model the end will sag unless stiffeners are added. The GCIV has added the gussets but just like the most of the table makers seem to forget that sometimes slate needs a shim where they least expected it to be needed and either have no access to the area there a shim is needed or the lack of support for the shim regardless the size or pieces per set of slates. a steel adjustable frame is ideal' the Europeans have been building em with steel with good results...steel or iron clad framed tables make 90% of the guys that work on/set up pool tables trimble or disappear...in reality the tables are fairly simple.
