is the ten ball break more broken than the nine ball break?

Positively Ralf

I only ask this because someone in the chat for the turning stone stream asked a good question. they asked if the ten ball break has been figured out and is more predictable than the 9 ball break? Made me wonder if this could be true since the only ten ball events I know of are the two big table ones(derby and international) and the world ten ball tournament.

now i know this has always been a weird topic because there are those who love call shot call safe vs express rules and vice versa for the game of ten ball.

We’ve seen some recent 10 ball pro events with a break and run percentage in the teens so I’m going to give a hard no to this one.

I think it is and moving the rack around like its being done in 9ball isn't the answer. Longer race's and more Money should fix it.

all other things equal, all balls touching etc, then yes. with predator tour slug racks then no

There is nothing wrong with the rack.

If you get a tight and consistent rack with truly random ball placement in 8/9/10/whatever, then there is nothing wrong with the break. I wish people would just leave it alone.

Being able to string racks together is GOOD FOR POOL!! It’s one of the only exciting aspects for the casual viewer.

If a golfer in a tournament goes on a tear, masses flock to the next hole to witness greatness in action. Moreover, viewership goes UP for the next tournament, with new people hoping to see it again.

The sport has acquiesced to the complainers that can’t, in almost every aspect.

We move the rack around, cook up new rules, tighten pockets, legalize jump sticks so the crowd can’t see the beauty in a multi-rail kick to avoid a foul, go to alternate break…

All in an effort to put the breaks on someone running out. It’s almost like someone literally sat down and thought up how to completely destroy viewership.

Did the NBA change rules to limit Jordan? NHL for Gretzky, boxing for Tyson? NFL for Brady or Manning? Baseball for Babe Ruth/Hank Aaron?

Prime Tyson was must watch tv. Prime Jordan, prime Earnhardt. Brady to Randy Moss? You kidding me? Unless you were a fan of the other team, you were praying to see Moss go off. Same thing with prime Adrian Peterson and a pissed off Steve Smith. Fans want to see someone dominate for God’s sake.

All other sports are able to appreciate greatness and ever cater to it. Pool moves the rack, screws up pockets and goes alternate break. Bravo pool, you are now the common core of the sports world.

There is nothing wrong with the rack.

If pool wants to handicap based off of Fargo scores and give guys games on the wire, great. Please just stop with everything else.

I agree with most of your points but in my experience, the casual viewer gets was more excited about a jump shot than a kick.
As long as pattern racking and slop are not allowed I'm happy to watch any rotation game.

I can go for that. I don’t hate the jump cue and a well executed shot it is a thing of beauty. I feel like it is overused

So you are against "alternate breaks" {so am I for that mater}

Guest from audience performing the break and then letting the players "have at it" would solve the "break" problem.

They did change the position of the after touchdown kick. No likely from Brady or Manning, but because it became "to automatic".

See Immaculate reception.....

This much is true. What is wrong is the game being played.

Alternate break in 1 pocket. Yes, necessary and it’s tradition.

Alternate break in rotation games is horrible.

I think hand rack 10-ball by a ref is broken in terms of players getting mud racked. At this point template rack 10-ball isn’t as bad as template rack (one on the spot) 9-ball but they are close neighbors. I’d call it broken. Matchroom’s break rules have brought 9-ball from a game with a broken break to honestly being better than 10-ball. They’ve traded places.
