that no one always questions. i keep hearing we all come here for different reasons . ok cool the be prepared for me to tear down your weak theories
with no real substance. now before i get hate mail which i dont mind
this is a forum and like you i am entitled to my oppinions .

and finaly why do people keep saying what works for me might not work for you? what does that mean ? what works for you will work for me but i choose not to use it because is doesnt make champions. it makes b players and if your content with that cool . if anyones is not content with b player knowledge then i suggest you take the pros advice for obvious reasons .he knows how to get you out of that class

Hi Mark:

I have read most of your recent posts and I have a theory on aiming systems and feel. I have noticed that players with natural talent often state they do everything by feel that they aren't using a system. You and "The One" who are two of the better players that post on here both stated they didn't learn by using a system. I am sure if McCready were to post he would say the same thing. The more natural talent a player has the less reason to resort to mechanical skills. Now, the problem for most players is they are not gifted with a lot of natural talent, it varies in degrees. The less talent the more they have to work at their game to develop the skills that others come by naturally. With a lot of practice under their belt, where they have worked out every movement to do something (systems) and then done it over and over again until they can get it done without thinking about it and get it done with accuracy they stop making mistakes and this will now pass for "talent" but it didn't come naturally.

There is a vast difference between the professional natural talent and someone who is good but lacking a lot of natural talent, the only way for them to bridge the gap is with practice and since it doesn't come naturally a system or a lot of systems become necessary.

So the thing to remember is for most players they do not possess the natural talent you do and where it might be easy for you to copy the best for most it is very difficult if not an impossible task.

Just my theory.

i agree with that post. but my discrepancy is with the fact that talent and no talent have not been the issue. the people im debating with are not making a distinction between those with talents and those who use systems. which you have done. but it seems many players here think that all top players use systems like they do, and talent hasnt even been an issue. so i wanted to bring out that important factor.

i just dont want all new players who are trying to learn the game, to think that they have to follow 'systems' or else they cant be a good player. talent plays a major role to be a champion. some on here might have talent, but instead are caught up in all the confusing system advice and hindering their growth to be a better pool player. there are so many systems that are useless out there, how will they know which one is which.

i wrote a post on my pool stories in the main forum, and how i started playing pool and there were no systems involved. and i personally dont think any system could have gotten me to championship pool in 2-3 years. i did just fine without the systems, and with no teachers. i just played good players, and watched and learned.

so it just goes to show that systems work up to a certain point, but there are too many variables in pool when you introduce side spin and speed control, not to mention table speed and table conditions, for them to be close to full proof. and even if there was one, i guarantee you it would take you many years just to become a good player.

just my opinion. :D

Myself personally, I was gifted with some talent but most of what I have accomplished has come from a lot of different things and it has included a lot of systems. Through trial and error I toss out what doesn't work or what doesn't work for me. For example the ghost ball system is limited and for many shots, because of variables, just doesn't work, whereas, the stroke-slip works for some players who use it but it doesn't work for me. Some systems that do work for me are kicking systems I have learned, some of them involve a lot of mathematical equations but they do work, of course, the way they work the best is when adjusted by my feel.

I sure wish I had more natural talent but lacking that I use what I have available to me but I know that you can stunt a natural talents growth by trying to get them to become mechanical.
