Is this possible?

Alright, is the following scenario possible.
If I have the Predator 3K1 + the 314 Shaft, and a Predator Break Cue. Now, if I wanted a jump cue, can I just get a jump shaft and put it on the 314? Or would I need an entire cue for that or ?

Since I would have the 3K1 with the 314 Shaft
Predator Break Cue with its 314 Shaft
Then can I use either one (3K1 or the Break Cue Butt *I think*) along with a jump shaft/cue?

Thanks

Hmn, how can you get a jump shaft for the BK1 when the butt does not cut down?
NOw, you might be able to get a jump HANDLE to go with your BK1 if that shaft can handle the stress of jumping.
Predator's ferrules are so sooooooft.

Wait, I think I meant having a jump butt and using... ahh never mind... I'm guessing that would mean I need to get a shaft and cue specifically for jumping?

Thanks for the reply. I'll just get a lucasi jump cue instead then. :)

Hay u can jump with a pred'If you can find a jump handle to fit the shaft that is all you need.and it 's all up in the air from there.
good luck.
P.S U can break with any cue it won't kill it. JUST your tip... ;-0

Predators do not make good jump cues, precisely for the fact that they provide lower deflection. For a jump cue, you want a ferrule/tip that would force the cue ball airborne, not glance off the side.

Fearless: your budget seems to be quite flexible! lol!

Here is a tip about jump cues. You will find that you jump better with a thin tip. I have a few frog jump cues and when I get new shafts, the first thing I do is bring them to the guy who does my tip work and have him put on a hard tip and cut it down so it is thin.

Therefore, in answer to the original question, I wouldn't just switch the shaft from a long butt to a shorter and lighter butt. I would get a separate shaft and have the tip cut down.

The worst shaft to jump with is the preditor, it does not jump worth a flip so your idea is not a good one. For a jump cue to work well it needs to be around 7 oz. The stealth jump cue is a good one and priced right. :D

Well I got myself a Lucasi Jump Cue.

Hehe, I don't really have a flexible budget. Just got my check from my financial aid and thus decided its time for a new cue and decided to get a jump cue as well.

*My tutition's been paid out so... :)

If you want just a jump cue, I would have bought the Bunjee for about $75-$80! Best jump cue on the market in that price range. Only thing better is the Sledgehammer!

i saw Pagulayan jumped with his BK cue when he won the Canadian champion back in 2001...i don't think he had a jump cue back then. So it's possible

John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues makes the best Jump Cue made. They are light, come in several styles, have a hard tip & tuff ferrule... they are really made to do one job & that's jumping the cue ball over obstacles...

from many years of talking to players i have found you can take a hard tip and slightly flatten out some and jump with great proficiency and accuracy......any good cue repair person should be able to accomadate you ....good luck in your search....juston coleman

I have a jumping james cue, seems the best to me.

I'm fairly sure a pool playing acquaintance of mine owns a jumping james cue as well & with the few times I used it - I would agree that it is a good jump cue.

Now the big question,

Where does one get a jumping james jump cue?
