I have read several of the threads about the ITP, both Negative & Positive. Personally I think if the ITP is to succeed they need to do what they say they are going to do.

As Actions SPEAK Louder than Works, P.R. Releases, or Promises.

Also i think the Average Pool Player will not Plop down $899.00 for a Lifetime Membership in a New Organization.

Know too many Start Up operations that Promised LifeTime Memberships, and went BELLY UP. Like Key buying Club. Vin Tanny Gyms, etc.

Think if the ITP, or any Pool Organization is going to turn Pool in Sport like Pro Baseball, Football, Basketball, etc.

Pool need a severe image make over, and major sponsorship like Budweiser, Coors, Viagra, and some of the other Sponsor who have DEEP Sponsorship Pockets like the Companies who names are Splattered on NASCAR Cars.

Major Pool Sponsorship Companies now like Mueller, PoolDawgs, Viking Cues, CueTec Cues, Master Chalk, etc. Just don’t have the Ad Budget of the Big Boys like Budweiser, Coors, Viagra, Tide, STP, and some of the other you find in NASCAR. ;)

Maybe you haven't been following the ITP threads careful enough since it's actually IPT :)
Or am I missing some private joke about ITP standing for something else. Any suggestions?

You guys do understand that first you have to apply, then out of those applications 150 will be selected and those are the people that would need to pay the 150 dont you? Its not like anybody can go pay their 899 and their in.

This is the first thread I have read on this in a while. I stopped reading them because all the people that have nothing but negative comments on the IPT were making me sick. If he is a success or a failure this is an opportunity that should be supported. And if handled properly, good could come from this even if it does fail.

They are not looking for the "average" pool player. They are looking for quality players who first have to apply and if they are the lucky one to be selected they will pay the initiation fee.

Any Teamsters out there. You all know about initiation fees. LOL And in this day and age $899 is chump change.

Keeping in mind ...

That the attaboys aren't usually the ones to bring
about good changes, it is usually 'the troublemakers'.

If the tour is a success, how long before the other
organizations start making format changes, and
perhaps prize fund changes?

I dont think the other organizations would start making format changes. They are different formats but that doesnt really make one better than the other (other than personal preferance). If IPT is successfull it wont be just because its 8ball, or slow cloth, it will be because of the total package and a big part of that package is the money.

I dont think they could make prize fund changes either, if there was more money available I would think they would already be putting it out there.

If the IPT is successful (and I hope it is) I think that there are going to be changes. I think the format of round robin tournaments could be big for TV. SlimShafty posted this in an earlier thread and I thought it would be great if pool could be covered in this type of format.

The TV format I believe will not be limited to one table or 2 tables, I would imagine most of the tables will be covered, in a format very similar to the PGA, cutting away and jumping from table to table following the top players and staying for a few shots or an entire rack, and also showing amazing shots in replay just like the PGA. The main problem today with pool on TV, is the average player or would be player does not feel like sitting through an entire match, especially if said match is between 2 players they don't want to see.

If KT does what he is trying to do (BIG PRIZE MONEY), I think at some point pool will be on TV and this is the key in my opinion. This is wear I think big changes could take place.
At this point I think really big money could be brought into pool with more sponsors. If this can happen we could see other tours started; not just 8-ball. Also some of the tours and tournaments that are considered big right now might be priced out by new people that are able to put on bigger extravaganzas. I think that we would see a change of power in the pool world.
If this can happen for games like golf, poker, and bowling, I like to think it can happen for pool.
On a side note; if pool is able to grow to this point and be put on TV with this type of round robin format, and we see a 9-ball tour, maybe we can see this game played the way it once was (old rules), wear there was more strategy and it was a better game in my opinion. I think some of the rule changes to maybe speed the game up have really taken away from it. Speeding up the game is not as important with this type of format.

Hey guys it is old news. There is no longer lifetime memberships. First year is 1 dollar. Get with it. Read the other threads. Then you wouldn't waste so much hot air.
