One of the first It's George cues before they went to production. I got it from the original owner that bought it from Bill Schick and Mike Roberts back in 91. Ive owned it since 98. Cue is in original condition w four sharp points with silver inlays. The pictures speak for themself. Cue is signed by Schick. Has two straight shafts. 1,500

What is the history behind It's George cues? I know they were nice....but where they production/custom/what? I've seen some nice looking examples though, and I'm interested in learning more.

I met Mike Roberts back in 1985 while stationed in Shreveport La. He was a regular guy building cases in his garage at night after work. The name "It's George" comes from an expression that people used to describe something nice. It was also something you might see from somebody in a poolroom. An example might be when you get into a game with a stranger. Your friend might walk in, recognize the stranger and give you the "George" sign to tell you that you have a good game or "It's george". The "John" sign would mean get out, you can't win. In my area of the country, the "george" sign was to scratch your left shoulder with your right hand. The "john" sign was to scratch your right shoulder with your left hand. Mike's relationship with Bill Schick comes from them living about 10 miles from one another. I wish that I knew then what I know now. I could buy Schick cues starting at $300 and It's George cases starting at $40.

A long time ago

Someone I think it was a guy named Gary Penkowski ( B C Open sponsor and world champ 9 ball player ) asked my dad to back him in a set. My dad wasn,t paying attention and answered iy's George so Gary being the clown that he was said George? and started talking to him in RUSSIAN AND THEN MY DAD ANSWERED HIM IN rUSSIAN. tHEY DID THAT ALOT , They did this alot because it was a advantage. They both busted out laughing. Turns out my dad thought Gary needed a cue to play a session with.He was telling him the cue in his hand was "its George" a Blalbuskka! Well it was so funny they decided to use it as a code word and over the years "George" has become reply you will hear from pool cooches. Nick
