I won a J&J break/jump cue over the weekend in a raffle at a holiday party for my league.
Party was free, had a nice doubles tournament with 32 teams and I got a $60 cue to boot
Great looking cue! Nice even finish, feels solid when together, wood looks nice.
Mine had a leather tip on it with a small (1/4 inch maybe) ferrule rather than the phenolic tips I see on the ebay J&J cues.
Broke with it a few times, my son used it also to break and did a few jumps, all worked as it should. Shaft was thick but felt nice, balance is good and the leather tip has a much better feel than a phenolic but looks to be just as effective for breaking and jumping.
My son has a J&J also, but butterfly points and a phenolic tip and his is about an ounce heavier, I like my leather tip a lot more, and also like the sharp points and wood on mine. Plus the lighter weight give it a more even balance on mine.
I can see why these are what everyone recommends for a low cost break/jump cue, but I think the leather tip models are better, although I don't see any on ebay right now.
