Hey Louis,

I was hoping to get some input from you on jacked up shots either due to a rail or having to bridge over a ball?

Do you address the shots any differently in terms of how you aim them? Are there any general tips about these shots you could provide?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi jj,

For shots that you are really jacked up on, for example you can only hit the top part of the ball, do as little as possible with the cue ball. Avoid putting english on the ball and just keep the cue as level as you can.

Some players prefer to line up on the shot, get locked into position, and then focus only on the cue ball. You are more or less going on faith that you lined up correctly. I do this myself on some jacked up shots.

What I do for practicing jacked up shots is to break up the balls, take ball in hand, and then try to run the table while positioning another ball behind the cue ball on each shot.

You can also practice any drills that you would normally practice in this same fashion.

Jacked up shots are not easy and require a lot of practice and patience. Again, avoid spinning the cue ball as any elevation of the cue will cause a slight masse and throw the cue ball off course.

Best of luck and thank you for your post!
