Jacoby Break Shaft

ok, posters, hows about some feedback here. i am going to have Jacoby make me a break shaft for my Jacoby B13 cue that i purchased from them. of all my cues, custom and production, the two that i use the most are my Chad Carter and Nova Custom Cues.

so, therefore, i am going to have a break shaft made for the Jacoby, and see how it does as a breaker. this Jacoby plays great, and is absolutely beautiful with the Ebony and Ivory. but if i was going to go play in the U.S. Open i would either take the Chad Carter or Nova Cue.

anyway, the specs are going to be as follows:
13.5 mm
8" to 10" taper
Medium tip
Ferrule? suggestions?

was just wondering if anyone out there had a Jacoby they used as a break cue? and what are the specs on the shaft?

Sounds like it will hit like a tank, but might create a lot of deflection. I hope you can hit center ball or be prepared to pick the cue ball up off of the floor a lot.

Why don't you just get a actual break cue...Jacoby makes a complete break cue.

what is the cost of a new Jacoby break cue? i am not into all kinds of fancy cues, tips, ferrules, etc, etc. a break shaft on the Jacoby should work fine, and it will only run about $125 total.

That is a GREAT Question.

Trying to make a Silk Purse from a Sow's Ear never works. Adding a Predator Shaft to a Budweiser Cue, might upgrade the play of the cue, however the cue might not be balanced like a complete Predator cue & the cue will most likely be worth about $75, after being used. That's if the shaft will even fit on the Bud Cue.

A good break cue should run $250. That's a small investment to have a great cue for decades of play. You always get what you pay for, unless you are just no good at shopping.

I think they are about $300.

The main reason I don't like the "break shaft" on a playing cue like that is that the break cue tends to get banged from time to time....especially when breaking from the side rail or over the GC metal pockets.......It does not happen often, but it does happen enough that I would suspect a ding here or there would show up in you Jacoby butt...

Personally, I bought a $120.00 Lucasi J/B cue, and had a Phenolic tip put on it....It breaks as good as any break cue I have seen...(with controle).....It breaks so well that one of the top players in AZ borrows it for big events....Actually its on permanent trade for a BCM cue I am using until my cue comes in...
