I just received my cue from John Bender here are the specs:
Nose - Birdseye maple
Points - 4 Gabon Ebony
Veneers - Black .030 thick Blue Green Holly all .040 thick
Joint - Stainless Steel Piloted 5/16-14 Pin
Rings - There are black phenolic rings with .015 nickel silver rings at the joint both on the butt and on the shafts
Butt Sleeve - Gabon Ebony
Cap - White Delrin
Cue No. 41
Dated 10-29-09 (That is when I started the Finish process and have to sign it)
Weight - Butt 15.5 ounces Both shafts are 4.1 ounces
Shafts - The Old Growth Sunken Wood Shaft is 13mm and the newer wood shaft is 12.75 Both are tipped with Moori Medium layered tips. Both are tapered to 11.5 inches
Length - 58 inches
Wrap - Double black with white specks Irish linen
I am totally happy with this cue. John does all the work with out a pantograph or CNC, one of the points maybe short a 1/32 or 64 of an inch but without the aid of machinery I can actually appricate that. As for playability that is subjective but it PLAYS. This isnt coming from someone that is unexsperianced with cues as I have owned and played with a Gus, Barry,Bender,Kiekel,Southwest,Schick,Fisher, and some others. If your in the market for a cue John bender is worth a look.
