i was watching the antique road show tonight and this man had a picture of the 1908 chicago cubs that had all the players on it. it had the famous three some of evers tinker and chance on there. i only mention that part cuz johnny evers came from my area.(schenectady, also opened a sporting goods store here)
anyway, the last person that they discussed was an allstar catcher from that team named JOHN KLING. they figure he was the best catcher of the time. the cubs had just come off of winning the worls series 3 times, the last 2 in a row. you ask what this has to do with pool. Well John Kling quit baseball early to play professional pocket billiards after winning the 1910 World Pocket Billiards Championship. I cannot imagine why. was there alot more $$$$$ in pool then? He was an allstar catcher of his time. anybody ever heard of him before? i believe the road show expert also claims He was also the first jewish pro base ball player ..............mike

I saw that too. Couldn't believe that framed piece was worth about $5k! Neat info on Kling. Gruesome info on Mordecai (3 fingers), hahaha.

Yo iron chef:
The story on Mordecai brings back a funny story. when i used to go to the sirt stock car races on or around the 4 of july they always claimed that the fire works were dangerous and were being set off by a guy named "3 FINGER MORDECAI". that is the truth. now i know where they got the name for him. And all this time, about 30 years, i always thought he was a guy lighting off fire works at lebanon valley speedway....now i know the truth...lolololololol...........................................mike
