I was surprised at the interest the Craftsman cues engendered (hell, I didn't even know Sears made cues
), and thought you might like to see some cues from England's premier snooker cue builder (sorry to steal your thunder Monski).
These are two of his "Made to Measure" collection. The "Special" is a Jimmy White long-butt jointed type of ebony hand-spliced into ash. It has four decorative splices of olive wood on the butt. The shaft at the tip is 9.5mm and has an Elkmaster tip on a brass ferrule.
The second cue is a top-of-the-line "Ultimate". This cue is center-jointed (so I could put it in a conventional case) and consists of Rosewood spliced into ash with for decorative splices, at the base, of Thuya Burl with an Ebony underlay. The grain matches perfectly at the joint. These shafts are NOT done on a lathe, but are hand-planed. It, too, uses a 9.5mm Elkmaster on a brass ferrule. John also made me a set of rosewood joint protectors - something not seen in the UK.
The shot with three cues in it shows the two Parris cues, plus an "Ultimate" shaft, crafted by John, which was jointed by Mike Capone to match the third cue in the picture - a Capone from 1997 - Bacote, Olive, and Ebony.
Enjoy
