That is a good item to have handed down to you. That looks like a snooker cue. Where are you from?

Hi Chris, I am from upstate New York, My name is Pete, Really interesting stick, and the case is even more interesting. It's funny I was trying to find a value on this stuff and I can't seem to find any value?? Some of my friends saw it and said it's probably worth some money. Not that I want to sell it now but maybe in the future. Do you have any idea of the value of the stick or the case. Do you think the stick and the case go together??? They fit together. I am new at this so it is kind of hard to work the site. Thanks for responding...Pete

Probably worth more in England

John Roberts, Jr was a English billiards player around the turn of the 20th Century. He followed in his fathers footsteps. Also, he began to build tables and cues. I suspect this is one of his (because it has his name). He died 1919, so if it is that old, it may be worth something. But, it may be that the company continued using his name after his passing.

I would suggest asking some of the English or European players that often post here. The best place to catch them is in the Main Forum. Try a Title that would catch their attention.

Good Luck---Hope its worth a Million!

Found Reference, ...Possibly

First, I would never espouse to be an expert. I only know from what I see. As I said above, please ask more knowledgeable Englishmen about this matter. Having said that, I did find a reference to this cue from what it claims pre-1870. The cue listed had an 11mm tip, no ferrule, dark ash shaft, 15 oz, 57.5 inches long. That cue is in unusually good shape. Below is a link to it. Very interesting!
