Yesterday, Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland did their seminar/school at Hard Times in Sacramento. The class was full, actually one over (13), with players of various speeds and ages.
My impression is that everyone came away with more than they brought to the class and were happy with their investment of time and money.
The class was split into two groups and after two hours rotated to the other pro, either Earl or Johnny. Each pro focused on different parts of the game, giving particularized instruction to each person and then explaining to the group the reasons. This format work very well as each person was shown their weakest point and how to fix it, and also had the benefit of other players evaluation.
Johnny focused on fundamentals and patterns while Earl worked on special bridges and shots.
Both were informative and engaging. They answered all questions and afterward stuck around for talk, autographs and pictures.
Even if you didn?t care about the lesson aspect, the two hours with Earl was just......well,.. like two hours with Earl. Just an amazingly talented player and very entertaining, as only he could be. Shots you will never forget and will probably try until you finally give up. You have to love and respect the way he handled himself in this forum.
Johnny, while not as outgoing as Earl ( who is), was also very engaging and perhaps more outgoing and friendly than most people would have thought. The guy is very knowledgeable and very technical about his game and passes on what processes he uses as he prepares to shoot each shot, including his aiming. Very good and effective technical information. Things other instructors have never mentioned regarding some fundamentals.
Mark did a wonderful job of putting together this event and was there to make sure everything went smoothly. Hats off to Mark for such a great job and event.
It was great meeting and talking with these three guys, all very passionate about the game that we all love. I look forward to seeing them all again.
Thanks for such a great informative and fun time.
