Joint Question

Hey guys I just acquired a beautiful Mike Miller cue and I am not happy with the feel of an Ivory Joint. I would like to have it switched for a piloted stainless steel 5/16 14 joint. Aestetically the cue is gorgeous and I absolutely love the look but its just not the hit I want.

My question or questions are

1. Is this a long difficult process?

2. Will it affect the structure of the cue as in will it not be stable.

3. Around how much would this cost. Ball Park.

Obviously, this would reduce the value of the cue. What kind of ferrule and tip combination are you using? Also, is it a pro taper or a conical taper? What diameter is the ferrule before the tip? These can affect the hit also. I honestly believe that changing the joint is a bit drastic, but can be done.
 
By wanting a steel joint, I presume that you want a stiffer hit. Have you considered a stiffer ferrule material and/or a morri quick? Conical taper will yeild a stiffer hit. I haven't hit with an OB or Predator shaft, so I can't comment on those. Helps if you have a spare shaft to experiment on.
