Joint repair

Greetings. Need help on how go about this repair. Ceuleman wood pin screws into this joint. Not sure why they would make collar joint so thin.

Bore out the forearm and install a maple dowel. Turn down the dowel and then bore the joint out to fit. Glue the joint back on. bore the forearm for threads, cut threads. Refinish as needed.
Obviously there's more to it than this, getting thing cut and bored straight and concentric is the key.
