Joint Threads "wood wear"

How long would you expect the wood threads to last in a radial joint? Metal into wood.....I know it won't be measured in years but rather how many times its been put together providing there's no abuse. If it wears out can it be repaired and usual cost to repair it ?...Thanks

Agood friend of mine owns a Joss West that he has assembled and disassembled about 2 times each day for over 20 years and it is still as tight as it was in the beginning.

I always turn the shaft counter-clockwise until I feel a little click as it falls off the last thread and then I screw it together (clock-wise) untit it seats good. By turning it backwards you will not ever cross thread your shaft.

If the threads wear out they can be replaced by any competent cuemaker with the right tools. I would charge about $30.00 to replace the threads in a shaft.

Good Cuemaking,

Unless someone carelessly cross-threads it, and assuming the threads are cut correctly, FOREVER. (or at least as long as the shaft will last.)
