Dear Maestros,

Need some help here, I am about to embark on making a Jump Break cue out of an existing break cue with decals on the forearm.

The point that I have identified to add the additional joint is right smack in between the decals.

Any tips on how to ensure after tightening the new joint that the decals will again line up straight beyond trial and error?

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers

You've got more problems than just the decals lining up.
The forearm is tapered. When you cut it, the kerf that you remove will suddenly make the front half and the back half have slightly different diameters. Normally, we'd re-taper the larger side to match - oops, goodbye decals.
There is a tool/jig sold by a famous name maker for taking the guess work out of aligning points on a cue. It could be used for this, but wouldn't make economic sense for a one-out.
Good luck!

Thanks for responding Gary!

Can you point me in the direction of the tool/jig you mentioned for aligning the points please?

I would be keen to understand at least how it works in principle.

Cheers!
