Jump cue handle.

Depends a bit on your preferences. I like a jump cue that's light and stiff, so I tend to steer clear of springy or dense woods.

I just made a 30” jump handle out of an unfilled carbon fiber and it works great! Tried it with a random shaft with a lexan tip. Will make a carbon shaft for it eventually. Thanks to Joe C. for the idea!

purpleheart, birch, maple are all good, carbon fiber would be really good choice as well ( no character to it but excellent functionality). I built one recently out of white linen melamine. used a purpleheart core, should have used something lighter, but it works great.

Light, but solid. I tried boring one out to make it even lighter and it jumped terribly.

Not a good pic but there’s not much to see…

The butt weighs 9.9oz with a stainless pin(not glued in yet). I still have to add a bumper( probably won’t change the weight much after I drill and bore). I’m also going to swap the pin out to aluminum. The shaft is just over 4oz. Eventually I’ll order a carbon fiber shaft blank and make a shaft out of it. I’m hoping to get it a lighter by an oz. or so.
