So after reading Eric's post for masse cues, I've been wondering what the detailed differences are between jump and masse cues.
For basics, obviously jump cues are light and masse cues are heavy. Both are shorter than a standard cue and seem to be anywhere in the range of 40-48".
As for the shaft though, it seems both tend to be stiffer and need wide tips. I assume harder tips work better for both kind of shots. I've seen jump cues with metal ferrules, but am not sure if that would also be beneficial for masse shots.
So I guess what I'm getting at is, would it be possible to have the same shaft with different butts for jump and masse, or is there something that's incorrect with my observations? Thanks.
