Need a little Education as I am think of Buy a Jump Attachment, so I can use one of my Shafts on It (with Same Female to Male Thread), or OPTION II would be buying a Jump Cue.

What should I look for, what is good, bad, and indifferent, and what should the total Weight of a Stet up be? Last question about jump cues would be what tips work Good on jump Cues, and what is the Preferred Tip Shape....

try this

I would recommend you buy a jump cue because if you use one of your playing shafts you may not get the reaction you are looking for because your shaft taper may not be stiff enough to jump easily. I use an el cheapo Lucasi jump cue. It has a real thick taper and its fairly easy to jump with. Also Ive used j/b cues but found the problem I mentioned earlier about taper came into play. Its not that they wouldnt jump but was that it was more difficult. Hope I helped.

If your playing cue has a thick shaft (at least 13 mm), a hard ferrule (not Ivory), and hard tip (at least a Hard if you want to jump with any ease), then you could just use a jump handle. Otherwise, I think it would be easier to just buy a jump cue. Most jump cues I've seen have a thick straight taper, short ferrule, and phenolic tip. Those 3 elements are what make it easier to get the ball airborne. All you need is just a slight rounding of the edges of the jump tip. It probalby wouldn't be good to have it completely flat, but having it roundish like most playing tips might make it easier to miscue (i'm not sure about this).

As some have already said one of the advantages of a jump cue is the tip. And for what the lucasi jump cues are selling for on ebay I dont think you would buy just a butt for much less. I think you would be happier if you just spent the money and bought a lucasi, they are tough to beat.

Bruce ... sent PM, but go to

www.RobinDodson.com and look at Frog & Tadpole jumpers, just
$79.95 for each, and they come with 2 shafts.

www.MichaelJscues.com - Lucasi jumper there for $65, and
Scorpion for $80. Michael j's has free shipping for USA.

You can buy a Bunjee jumper for $90-$100 almost anywhere
that sells them (like a billiard room).

Bunjee

I got a bunjee on sale at seyberts.com for around $50. It does work well, but I think if you are going to get something in that genre- it should be the stinger. Full cue jumps about as good as any jump cue except in ultra close scenarios. My local room does not allow jump cues.

I was thinking about buying a stinger and retiring/selling my pred BK.

Bruce, if your playing cues have two shafts, you can just carry a jump handle with you and use the shaft you aren't playing with.

HTH, FWIW,

Jon
