Jump Cues

I am considering the purchase of a jump cue.

1) Does anyone have strong feelings on the benefits or insufficiencies of their current jump cue?

2) Has anyone used the Cuetec Propel and its Predator competitor such that they feel qualified to make some conclusions on which is better?

Thank you in advance.

1 - I currently have a Wheat State Quantum jump cue and I absolutely love it. Size wise it's similar to the Cuetec but has a tapered section by the joint for dart stroke jumping like a Jacoby Jumper. I dart stroke for tight jump shots so I really appreciate this but wouldn't be helpful for someone who doesn't use dart stroke at all. It's the most controlled jump cue I've ever used, I feel like I make way more jump shots with this than with the AirRush I had previously. Never struggled to get up and over with the AirRush but I struggled to make balls, the Wheat State is much better at making balls for me.

2 - I owned an AirRush prior to this and I've used a Propel a couple times. I think the Propel jumps slightly easier but both are phenomenal jump cues. Because the Cuetec is also a bit cheaper it's what I would buy today if I were getting something new and couldn't get another Wheat State (they're hard to come by)

I was going to say they all are currently hard to find as I've been looking for a Propel for a little while. However, Seybert's has both the red Propel and the red Air Rush in stock as of this posting. Guess I'm spending $500 today.

Like slide13, I've used both and give a slight nod to the Propel.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply.

I use a Lucasi jump cue from a decade ago ($60 back then). Works better than I do.
When you have CB in center of table and a close interfering ball, there is no way to perform underhand jump.

I also have a lucasi...signature model 4 points with Veneers even . Mine must be close to 30 years old . I am a cheap bastard and I am not shelling out big bucks for some item I would seldom use . I remember when I first picked it up lots of rooms had a no jump cues allowed policy . I did borrow a buddys :Propel the other day and it was very easy to use .

I have a Propel. Excellent jump cue.

I have tried the Air Rush and didn’t find it jumped as well. But then a friend showed me his Air Rush where he replaced the stock tip with a Taom 2.0 and it jumps great.

With that change, I think they both jump very similarly. One difference is that the AR is longer in its 3 piece form - which my very tall friend likes. Note that I have seen SVB take off the end of his Propel and attach a Cuetec extension (playing cue extension) for certain jumps where he wants the extra length.

I’ve also hit with the GO Custom jumper. I like it a lot as well.

To piggyback on this question, is there any difference between a break tip and a jump tip? Thanks

Many tips are sold as Jump/Break tips. The Cuetec Propel and Breach both used the Taom 2.0 J/B. And based on their new announcement, Cuetec’s new Kintrol tip will be on both.

I assume Taom’s replacement for the 2.0 (not yet released) will also be a J/B.

Some manufacturers are selling separate jump and break tips. In some cases I think this is real (for example the impregnated leather tips like the Samsara and the Kamui Sai) aren’t as hard as the J/B tips and probably aren’t quite as good at jumping. Whether the tips sold just as jump tips are any better than the J/B tips I don’t know.

Is this the first-generation Lucasi jump cue that has all the professional player signatures on it, and the veneers are sort of red/white/blue?
